Product details

Background & context

More than half a million Willys MB and Ford GPW vehicles came off the line by the end of the war, and a good share of them never carried a load of post. The reconnaissance squadrons of the US cavalry used Jeeps in small groups: two or three vehicles, a .30cal or a heavy .50cal on its mount, plus a radio. They drove ahead of the division, felt their way along roads and broke contact as soon as things got serious. They had the firepower for enemy patrols, but no armour.

On the tabletop

With these three armed jeeps you can field an armoured platoon of light vehicles for your American army in Bolt Action. Two medium .30 cal and two heavy .50 cal machine guns are included, so you decide how each vehicle is armed. The jeeps give your infantry mobile fire support against enemy infantry and scout teams, but they have no armour. Historically the reconnaissance squadrons of the American cavalry ran jeeps like these in groups of two or three ahead of the division, probing the roads and pulling back as soon as things got serious. A stat card, decals and damage markers are included.
