Product details

Background & context

On the tabletop

Giovanni de' Medici, known as Giovanni of the Black Bands, leads the fast cavalry of your Italian army in Pike & Shotte. His mounted arquebusiers were notorious for their speed, so on the table you put him at the head of light horsemen who strike quickly. The black mourning bands adopted after the death of Pope Leo X in 1521 gave his troops their name. He fought first against and then for France until a ball badly wounded him at Governolo in 1526. The figure is resin.
