Product details

Background & context

Pioneers set off before the infantry did: clearing lanes through minefields, blowing wire entanglements, removing tank obstacles. The longer the war went on, the more often they ended up in the assault troop role themselves, in Stalingrad, in Caen, wherever blocks of houses were taken metre by metre. On the retreat their work was reversed: instead of opening routes they blew bridges and laid minefields.

On the tabletop

In Bolt Action engineers go where mines, wire and bunkers block the infantry's way. The 31 figures carry the specialist kit for it: the Flammenwerfer 35 against positions and buildings, demolition charges and Teller mines, a mine detector, wire cutters, the Goliath and the GrB-39 grenade launcher. With Kar 98k, MP 38/40, MG 34 and captured PPSh you can also field squads with standard weapons. House-to-house fighting as at Stalingrad or Caen is their ground.
