Product details

Background & context

Every Wehrmacht company had its medics, recognisable by the white armband with a red cross and the two medical pouches on the belt. Their job was first aid under fire: stop the bleeding, apply a dressing, get the man back to the battalion aid post, where the battalion medical officer decided who had to go further to the rear. Officially, medics carried no weapon and were protected by the Geneva Convention, which counted for considerably less in the East than in the West. One image recurs in photographs from every front: the man being supported, hobbling to the rear with his rifle as a crutch.

On the tabletop

The four figures show two scenes of casualty care in the Wehrmacht, suitable for any front and any year of the war. Place the medic supporting a limping casualty on the way to the rear, and the kneeling group at a dressing station behind the lines. In scenarios both groups serve as objectives to be recovered or protected. The figures are printed in resin, and you remove the supports before assembly.
