Background & context

German command doctrine required every junior leader to know his superior's mission and, if need be, to carry it on alone. Platoon commanders were given an objective and a time frame, and found the way there themselves. In the years 1943 to 1945 this was no longer theory but sheer necessity: formations were shattered, communications broke down, and anyone who waited for orders waited too long. The typical lieutenant of those years was correspondingly young and correspondingly worn out.

On the tabletop

Each of these four figures is tailored to a different platoon of your 1943 to 1945 German army: rifles, reconnaissance, artillery and heavy weapons. In Bolt Action every platoon needs an officer to give orders and lead the men into battle, so each platoon gets a fitting leader. You can field the officers on their own or with attendants. They are cast in Warlord Resin, and plastic bases are included.
