Background & context

Die Pak 43 war die auf eine Lafette gesetzte Fassung der langen 8,8-cm-Kanone, die auch den Tiger II bewaffnete - deutlich stärker als die bekannte Flak 18 aus den frühen Kriegsjahren. Ab 1943 stand sie als schwerste deutsche Panzerabwehrkanone in nennenswerter Stückzahl im Feld und erledigte alliierte Panzer auf Entfernungen, auf denen die noch gar nicht antworten konnten. Ihr Nachteil war das Gewicht: ohne Zugmaschine bewegte sich das Geschütz praktisch nicht.

On the tabletop

The Pak 43 carries the same long 8.8 cm gun as the Tiger II and in Bolt Action is a superheavy anti-tank gun in the artillery platoon. At long range it penetrates even the heaviest Allied tanks, up to the Soviet IS-2. It can only be moved under tow by the Sd.Kfz 7, so before the game you find it a position with a long, clear field of fire. Five metal crew figures are included.
