    Background & context

    Der 8-cm-Granatwerfer 34 war schon 1934 ausgereift und blieb bis zum letzten Kriegstag im Dienst - drei Lasten, drei Mann, in Minuten feuerbereit. In den letzten beiden Kriegsjahren verschob sich seine Rolle: Wo Artillerie fehlte, Munition knapp wurde und der Himmel dem Gegner gehörte, war der Werfer oft die einzige schwere Waffe, die eine deutsche Kompanie noch gefahrlos einsetzen konnte. Die Stellung wechselte ständig, weil Gegenfeuer sonst zu schnell kam.

    On the tabletop

    The 8 cm Granatwerfer 34 was the standard medium mortar of the German army, and in Bolt Action you field it as a medium mortar team in the heavy weapons platoon. It fires in an arc at enemies behind walls and hedges or inside buildings, supporting both attack and defence. The three crew figures wear the uniform of the middle to late war years. In the defensive fighting of that period it was often the only heavy weapon a company had, and it changed position quickly after firing.
