Product details

Background & context

The 8.8cm Flak was developed as an anti-aircraft gun and would probably have spent the war inconspicuously pointing at the sky, had someone in Spain and later in North Africa not swung the barrel down to the horizontal. Its high muzzle velocity defeated anything that came in front of the muzzle, and its range lay far beyond anything Allied tanks could shoot back with. The price was its size: the 88 stood tall, wide and poorly concealed, and every winter position had to make up for that.

On the tabletop

In Bolt Action the Eighty-eight is a super-heavy anti-tank gun on a rotating platform that can also fire as a medium howitzer. It covers long sight lines against tanks and can support your infantry with indirect fire when needed. Being tall and wide, it is hard to hide, so keep your own squads close to protect it. Seven metal Heer crew in winter uniform serve the plastic gun, and an Sd.Kfz 7 can tow it.
