    Product details

    Background & context

The leIG 18 light infantry gun reached the troops in the early 1930s and stayed in service until the end of the war because it delivered exactly what a battalion needed: 75mm of high explosive at short range without waiting for the divisional artillery. The crew pushed it into position by hand, and over longer distances a light tractor towed it. In the defensive battles from 1943 onwards this meant it often stood right beside the rifle platoons, firing over open sights at houses, bunkers and anti-tank nests.

    On the tabletop

In the German artillery platoon for Bolt Action, the 75 mm leIG 18 is a light howitzer that almost any vehicle can tow and that the crew can move by hand if need be. Its place is close to your rifle platoons. From there it fires directly at houses, bunkers and anti-tank positions, or in an arc at enemies behind cover. Three Heer figures in 1943 to 1945 uniform and a round 60 mm base come with the metal model, suited to the defensive battles of the late war.
