The answer to a nice problem to have: anyone who wanted more MGs and mortars out of the big German infantry set gets three heavy weapons sprues plus two infantry sprues here, 32 figures with the emphasis on fire support.

Background & context

The German infantry section was organised around its machine gun: the riflemen carried ammunition and covered the MG, not the other way round. On the heavy tripod with optical sight the MG42 became a sustained-fire weapon with a considerably greater effective range than in the bipod role. Added to that were the 8 cm mortar for indirect fire and, from 1943, the Panzerfaust, which was produced in millions and gave every rifleman a chance against a tank.

On the tabletop

This supplement turns your German platoon of the final war years into a unit with far more firepower. Up to three MG 42s on tripods and three 81 mm mortars with crews give you sustained fire and high-angle fire on targets behind cover. Four bipod MG 42s, three Panzerschrecks and nine Panzerfausts can be spread across the squads. With tent quarters and camouflage smocks the figures suit well-equipped formations such as the Panzergrenadiers.
