Product details

Background & context

After the fall of France, an armed underground of civilians, former soldiers, and political activists quickly formed in the occupied country. These partisans - known as the Maquis - operated in secret, carrying out targeted sabotage and raids on occupation troops. Allied supply drops enabled the resistance fighters to use heavy weapons such as machine guns and grenade launchers. The Résistance comprised men and women from all social strata who, despite the danger to life and limb, took up armed struggle - their actions behind German lines critically contributed to tying down the occupiers during crucial phases of the war.

On the tabletop

Allied airdrops brought the Maquis heavier weapons such as the Vickers machine gun and the 3-inch mortar, both of which are in this set. A command team and a sprue of captured German weapons complete it. In Bolt Action the mortar gives your resistance force fire in an arc, while the machine gun keeps roads and approaches under sustained fire. The figures represent fighters of the FFI but also suit partisans in Poland or the Soviet Union.
