    Schwere Waffen kamen bei den Maquisards selten und meist auf Umwegen an: als Beute aus überfallenen Depots oder aus alliierten Fallschirmabwürfen. Ein Mörser blieb deshalb ein Prestigestück, das nur erfahrene Männer wirklich beherrschten. Ab dem Sommer 1944, als die Résistance offen gegen die deutschen Sicherungsverbände vorging, zahlte sich das aus: Die Besatzer saßen in festen Stützpunkten, und genau dagegen wirkt Steilfeuer.

    On the tabletop

    High-angle fire from the medium mortar lets your Resistance force in Bolt Action attack strongpoints it could hardly take in a direct fight. The bombs reach enemies in trenches and behind farmyard walls without the crew having to show itself. This pays off against German security troops dug into fixed positions from the summer of 1944. The tube and its three crew are cast in metal. Meanwhile your riflemen keep the enemy pinned in cover.
