    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The regular French infantry regiments were among the best-trained European units deployed in the 18th-century North American colonial conflict. Unlike local militias and indigenous allies, they fought in classic European linear tactics, bringing continental warfare to the forests and waterways of Canada. They formed the military backbone of French colonial power, securing fortresses and strategically important trade routes. Their deployment in terrain highly unfavorable for European tactics posed enormous challenges for officers and enlisted men alike.
