    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The hussars of the French army were considered the most colorful cavalry units of their era - their uniforms, originally based on Ottoman and Hungarian models, developed into a trademark of military extravagance. Fourteen regiments existed side by side, each in its own color scheme, so that a formed hussar squadron on the field was an impressive sight. As light cavalry, they undertook reconnaissance and patrol rides deep in enemy territory. The elite company of each regiment was distinguished from the other squadrons by bearskin caps and embodied the special pride of these units.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    French Hussars works in Black Powder, Sharp Practice and Sharpe's Rifles as a cavalry unit for reconnaissance, flanking attacks and pursuing defeated enemies. Cavalry is particularly strong when exploiting open flanks or threatening battered formations. The focus is on general Napoleonic engagements. The French nation assignment helps in building suitable forces and scenarios.
