Product details

Background & context

The French platoon of 1940 had specialists of its own. The 50mm Modèle 1937 mortar was light enough to be carried by one man and replaced the rifle grenade at platoon level. Snipers, by contrast, were not a separate branch: experienced marksmen were given a telescopic sight and detached as required. Anti-tank rifles remained in short supply and reached the Free French Forces mainly through British deliveries.

On the tabletop

In the French platoon of 1940 the light 50 mm Modèle 1937 grenade launcher replaced the rifle grenade. The light mortar team in this set has three crew, joined by a sniper pair and a two-man anti-tank rifle team, all in Warlord Resin Plus. The mortar fires in an arc over cover, the sniper targets leaders, and the anti-tank rifle keeps light vehicles at a distance. With the three order dice you can put the teams into action in Bolt Action right away.
