Product details

Background & context

French tank design in 1940 had a built-in problem that no crew could make up for: in the one-man turret the commander had to load, aim, fire and lead his unit all at once. Many vehicles had no radio, so communication was by flag, hand signal and open hatch. That is why French commanders so often stood half out of the turret, not out of bravado but because they would otherwise have been blind.

On the tabletop

In the one-man turret of a French tank in 1940, the commander had to load, aim, fire and lead, often without a radio and therefore half out of the hatch. That is exactly how the four partial figures sit in the hatches of your French vehicles. Place the three figures on foot as a crew that has left its vehicle or as commanders out scouting. This gives your French tanks in Bolt Action visible crews.
