Background & context

Die französische Doktrin von 1940 stammte aus den Gräben von Verdun: Stellung beziehen, Feuer massieren, den Angreifer verbluten lassen. Das Hotchkiss M1914 war da längst ein Veteran, luftgekühlt und mit Metallstreifen statt Gurt gefüttert, langsam im Feuer, aber kaum kaputtzukriegen. Die Mörser dagegen kamen frisch von Brandt und waren Weltspitze, der 81er wurde in halb Europa und in den USA in Lizenz gebaut. Feuerkraft hatte diese Armee reichlich, ihr fehlte nur die Zeit, sie zu nutzen.

On the tabletop

This box gives you the heavy weapons of a 1940 French platoon for Bolt Action. Depending on how you build the two weapons frames, you get up to six mortars, two Hotchkiss machine guns or a mix of both. The machine guns pin down infantry in the open, while the 81, 60 and 50 mm mortars fire in an arc over cover. The twelve figures and the bases make four weapons teams, or three teams plus a platoon commander with his escort. Order dice and decals are included.
