Background & context

Die 47 mm SA mle 1937 war technisch das Beste, was Frankreich 1940 im Feld hatte. Ihr Geschoss ging durch jede deutsche Panzerung dieser Wochen, auch durch die des Panzer III. Gebaut wurden davon allerdings nur gut tausend Rohre, verteilt auf eine Armee, die den Vorstoß durch die Ardennen nie zu fassen bekam. Wo sie doch in Stellung kam, bei Hannut und an der Maas, kostete sie die Panzertruppe echte Verluste.

On the tabletop

The 47 mm gun gives your French army in Bolt Action an anti-tank weapon that in 1940 could penetrate any German armour of those weeks, including that of the Panzer III. Site it with a wide field of fire covering a road or a wood edge that enemy tanks have to pass, and let infantry secure the position. Three metal crew figures are included. It was towed by the Laffly W15T, and the Wehrmacht used captured guns as the Pak 181 and 182.
