Product details

Background & context

The 8.8cm began as an anti-aircraft gun and formally remained one. It did, however, stand tall and fire flat and fast, and in Spain at the latest its crews noticed that it could open up tanks just as well. In the Western Desert it was one of the few weapons that posed a danger to a Matilda II, and on the Eastern Front one of the few against the T-34 and KV. An infantryman later described it simply as a weapon against everything.

On the tabletop

In Bolt Action the Flak 37 belongs in the artillery platoon of German lists, where it counts as a superheavy anti-tank gun on a rotating platform. It can also fire as a medium howitzer, lobbing shells at infantry and positions, so it has work against tanks and foot troops alike. It is towed by the Sd.Kfz 7. In the desert you set it against Matilda IIs, on the Eastern Front against T-34s and KVs. Seven crew figures and the large oval MDF base turn it into a complete gun position.
