Product details

Background & context

The Feldgendarmerie was the military police of the Wehrmacht, and the gorget worn round the neck earned it the mocking nickname Kettenhund. It guided march columns through bottlenecks, checked papers, rounded up stragglers and stood at every bridge that supplies were meant to cross. Anyone travelling motorised wore the Kradmantel: a long, weatherproof coat that kept the slipstream and the rain off the saddle and fell to below the boots on dismounting.

On the tabletop

Two Feldgendarmerie men in long motorcycle coats give you a pewter military police patrol, designed for the Rubicon R75 sidecar combination, which you need separately. One sits on the motorcycle, the other stands with his signal disc raised, waving traffic through. You decide during assembly whether their hands wear gloves. Placed at a bridge or crossroads, the pair mark a checkpoint behind the lines that columns in your scenario have to pass.
