Product details

Background & context

The farm of La Haye Sainte stood right in front of Wellington's line on the road to Brussels. On 18 June 1815 it was held by around 400 men of the 2nd Light Battalion, King's German Legion, under Major Georg von Baring, reinforced during the day by Nassauers and further companies. For hours they threw back French assaults until their rifle ammunition ran out. In the early evening the farm fell, and for a short time the French stood in the centre of the Allied line.

On the tabletop

The farmhouse with its outbuildings, walls, pond and sandpit takes the centre of the table, with carts, plough and two abatis blocking the approaches. Major von Baring holds the yard with the King's German Legion, backed up by Lüneburgers, 95th Rifles, Nassauers and two units of Hanoverian line infantry. The French come on with 36 light infantry, 36 line infantry, six voltigeurs and Lieutenant Vieux's engineers, with Marshal Ney driving them forward. The scenario booklet sets out the game; you also need the Black Powder rulebook.
