Background & context

Nach Kreta 1941 sprang kein deutscher Fallschirmjäger mehr in einer großen Operation ab. Die Verbände kämpften als Eliteinfanterie am Boden, immer dort, wo es besonders eng wurde: monatelang in den Trümmern von Monte Cassino, später in den Hecken und Dörfern der Normandie. Nachschub kam unregelmäßig, also nahm man, was der Gegner liegen ließ. Auf Aufnahmen der letzten Kriegsjahre tragen halbe Trupps englische und amerikanische Waffen.

On the tabletop

From 1943 to 1945 the German Fallschirmjäger fought only as infantry on the ground, for example in the ruins of Monte Cassino or in Normandy. Because supplies arrived irregularly, they took the weapons the enemy left behind, and photographs from the last years of the war show many of them with British and American arms. These five metal figures represent such men. In your late-war German force for Bolt Action they stand out clearly from your other Fallschirmjäger.
