Background & context

Das Sd.Kfz. 2 entstand als Zugmaschine für die Luftlandetruppe - klein genug, um in den Laderaum einer Ju 52 zu passen. Ab 1943 hingen an der Kupplung leichte Geschütze, Munitionskarren und Kabeltrommeln der Fernmelder. Bei den Fallschirmjägern in Italien und an der Ostfront ersetzte es oft das, was andere Verbände an schweren Zugmaschinen fuhren. Der Preis dafür war eine winzige Ladefläche und ein Laufwerk, das ständig Wartung fraß.

On the tabletop

For your Fallschirmjäger of 1943 to 1945, the Kettenkrad is the right tractor in Bolt Action. It brings a light anti-tank gun or ammunition forward and can carry wounded men back on the return trip. It is meant as a helper behind the line and cannot stand up to direct fire. Historically it served with paratroopers in Italy and on the Eastern Front. Two crew figures are included.
