Product details

Background & context

In the summer of 1812 Napoleon's Grande Armée marched through present-day Lithuania and Belarus towards Moscow. The villages along the way were mostly simple timber houses that served the soldiers as quarters and a source of supplies. On the winter retreat many had been burned or looted, and the army found little shelter from the cold. Similar villages still shaped the region when war returned there in the Second World War.

On the tabletop

In play the house serves as a strongpoint that a unit can occupy and hold against assaults. The removable roof makes it easy to set figures inside and take them out again during the game. It represents villages along the road to Moscow or settlements on the Eastern Front. Placed at the edge of a village, it forces attackers to cross open ground.
