Product details

Background & context

The black uniform of the panzer arm was introduced in 1934 because oil and soot showed least on it and the short jacket caught on nothing in the cramped fighting compartment. With it came the Schutzmütze, a padded crash cap under a wide beret. It defined the look of the crews in Poland and France, but got in the way of the headphones and from 1940 gave way to the field cap and side cap.

On the tabletop

These three panzer crewmen in the padded Schutzmütze belong with German tanks of the campaigns in Poland in 1939 and France in 1940. Stand the man with the open map beside his vehicle as its commander, and place the two seated men with headphones on the tank. Because the arms are glued on separately, you can vary the poses. They are printed in resin; once you have cut them free of the supports, you assemble them with superglue.
