Early Hajduks Firing provides eight firing 28mm metal miniatures for Polish-Lithuanian infantry of the Pike & Shotte era. The models represent Hajduks in a firing line and are particularly well-suited for armies that prepare cavalry charges with infantry fire.

Background & context

Die polnische Schlachtordnung lebte von einem einfachen Handel: Das Fußvolk band den Gegner mit Feuer, die Reiterei entschied. Die Hajduken standen dabei in der ersten Reihe - eine der wenigen Infanterien Osteuropas, die geschlossen und geübt schoss. Ihre Arkebusen waren leichter als die westliche Muskete und schneller wieder bereit, dafür kürzer im Schuss. In den Kriegen gegen Schweden, Russland und die Osmanen zwischen 1570 und 1650 war das genau die Mischung, die Polen brauchte.

On the tabletop

Taking aim with their arquebuses, these eight hajduks form the firing line of a Polish army for Pike & Shotte. Place them at the front, where they pin the enemy with their fire while the hussars and the rest of the cavalry form up to charge. For hand-to-hand fighting they carry only short swords, so you are better off keeping them out of melee. Suitable opponents are the Swedes, Russians and Ottomans of the wars between 1570 and 1650.
