    Hintergrund & Einordnung

The Daimyo were powerful territorial lords who controlled vast swathes of medieval Japan, effectively acting as independent warlords. Despite their formal subordination to the Shogun, many of these lords pursued their own power interests and led their armies of samurai and foot soldiers in conflicts that sometimes lasted for decades. The Sengoku period, the so-called Age of Warring States, was significantly shaped by these figures. Three men eventually paved the way for the unification of Japan-Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu-and are still considered the most important strategists and statesmen of their era.

    Einsatz im Spiel

Daimyos are used in Pike & Shotte as command, character, or scenario models for Japanese Samurai and Ashigaru armies of the Sengoku period. In the game, they mark command points, leaders, or narratively important figures and provide visual orientation for an army. They should not be evaluated as an ordinary combat unit, but rather as a leading figure, mission objective, or thematic center of the force.
