Product details

Background & context

British armoured doctrine kept two roles strictly apart: infantry tanks pushed the attack forward slowly behind thick armour, cruiser tanks thrust quickly into the gaps. The Crusader was the best-known answer to the second role, and in the expanses of Cyrenaica its speed suited the thinking of a cavalry arm. But at first it carried the 2-pdr, which from 1941 was barely adequate against German armour, and the small Besa turret in the hull was so unpopular that crews often removed it or left it unmanned.

On the tabletop

The Crusader Mk I or II is the fast cruiser tank of early British desert lists. Its 2-pounder soon struggled against German tanks, so in Bolt Action you mainly use its speed to find weak points in the enemy line and lead breakthroughs. A coaxial machine gun deals with infantry, while many crews removed the small hull machine-gun turret. Stat card, order die and damage markers are included.
