Product details

Background & context

In the Crimean War, France provided one of the largest troop contingents of the allied coalition and was significantly involved in the fighting. The French line infantry, with their characteristic blue uniform coats and striking red trousers, created an appearance that would define the army for decades. Armed with converted percussion rifles, they formed the foundation of French combat power on the peninsula. The unusual alliance with Great Britain - a traditional rival of France - against Russian expansion was a unique aspect of this conflict.

On the tabletop

An officer, a standard bearer, a drummer and a soldier with shouldered rifle form the command group of a battalion of your French line infantry in the Crimean War for Black Powder. With them you recognise your battalions at a glance and always know where the colours are. The blue tunics and red trousers suit the Crimean War, in which French troops stormed the Malakoff on 8 September 1855 and decided the campaign.
