Hintergrund & Einordnung

The British Commandos were established from 1940 as specialized assault units and carried out amphibious raids, sabotage acts, and reconnaissance operations on various fronts - from the Norwegian fjords and North Africa to the beaches of Normandy. Their officers were considered leaders who prioritized independent action and initiative over rigid obedience. The proven Vickers machine gun, a veteran of World War I, remained a reliable support weapon in World War II and provided sustained firepower from cover for smaller units. Mortar and machine gun squads gave the Commandos a tactical independence usually reserved for larger infantry units.

Einsatz im Spiel

This support group forms the tactical backbone of a Commando Platoon and covers several key roles. The Vickers MG team is suitable for flank security and suppressing enemy positions at longer ranges, while the mortar team can pressure entrenched enemies with indirect fire.
