Product details

Background & context

From 1940 the British raised Commando units for raids behind enemy lines, from Norwegian fjords by way of North Africa to the beaches of Normandy. Their officers came almost without exception from the upper middle classes and the public schools and were drilled in initiative rather than rigid obedience to orders. The water-cooled Vickers .303 dated back to the First World War and still delivered the most reliable sustained fire the force had. The 3-inch mortar reached out to 3,000 yards depending on the round.

On the tabletop

From 1940 the British raised Commandos for raids behind enemy lines, from Norway through North Africa to Normandy. This metal group gives them leadership and heavy weapons: the HQ leads the platoon, and the forward observer coordinates artillery from behind the lines or air strikes. The .303 Vickers with gunner, loader and ammunition bearer lays down continuous fire at long range. In Bolt Action the 3-inch mortar covers the advance of your assault sections.
