    Background & context

    Im Dezember 1942 setzten Royal Marines vom U-Boot Tuna aus Kanus in die Gironde-Mündung und paddelten fünf Nächte lang flussaufwärts nach Bordeaux. Von sechs vorgesehenen Booten kamen zwei durch, ihre Haftminen beschädigten mehrere deutsche Blockadebrecher. Zwei Mann schlugen sich anschließend über Spanien nach England durch, die übrigen kamen um. Das Unternehmen lief unter dem Namen Frankton.

    On the tabletop

    This set represents a commando raid by your British Royal Marines in Bolt Action: two folding canoes with four paddlers and four men already ashore with weapons drawn. Use it for raids on harbours and coastal targets where your team has to land unseen, plant limpet mines and get away again. It is based on Operation Frankton in December 1942, when Royal Marines paddled canoes up the Gironde to Bordeaux and damaged German blockade runners.
