Product details

Background & context

The street café was part of everyday life in French towns, with tables under the awning and flats on the upper floors. During the occupation from 1940 German soldiers sat there beside local people, while curfews and checks shaped daily life. For the Resistance, cafés were meeting places where messages were passed on. In the fighting for the towns in 1944 the houses on the main street served as firing positions.

On the tabletop

The café belongs on the main street, side by side with the other rowhouses of the City range. Lift off roof and floors and spread your troops across the storeys while tanks roll past outside. On the ground floor behind the large windows a squad fires at the street at close range. The house suits fighting for French towns in the summer of 1944.
