Product details

Background & context

The town hall, called mairie or hôtel de ville in France, housed the mayor and the administration and usually stood on the main square. During the occupation from 1940 the local administrations carried on under German supervision. At the liberation in 1944, resistance fighters in many places seized the town hall first and raised the tricolour. In Paris they took the Hôtel de Ville in August 1944, a few days before Allied tanks reached the city.

On the tabletop

Give the town hall the middle of the table so that the streets lead to it from every side. The balcony on the front serves as a raised position for a sniper or an observer. Inside, you spread a whole platoon across several rooms. As a mission objective the attacker has to take the building piece by piece, while the defender can hold it for a long time with a few squads.
