Background & context

Der Crocodile gehörte zu Hobarts Funnies, den Spezialfahrzeugen der 79th Armoured Division. Statt des Bug-MGs saß ein Flammenwerfer im Rumpf, gespeist aus einem gepanzerten Anhänger mit rund sechseinhalb Tonnen Brennstoff, den die Besatzung im Notfall abwerfen konnte. Ab der Normandie 1944 räumten Crocodiles Bunkerlinien, Ortschaften und Abschnitte des Westwalls - oft reichte ein einziger Feuerstoß, damit die Verteidiger die Stellung aufgaben.

On the tabletop

Bolt Action rates the Churchill Crocodile as a super-heavy tank armed with a medium anti-tank gun and a flamethrower, the latter replacing the hull machine gun. It tows its fuel in a jettisonable trailer holding six and a half tons, while the 75 mm gun in the turret remains usable. You drive it up to bunkers, buildings and positions whose defenders historically often gave up at the mere sight of it. It suits Achtung Panzer! as well as British games from Normandy in 1944.
