Description

In the Burmese jungle there was no supply column, only what came down by parachute. These three two-man teams cover the tasks for which a Chindit column could not drag heavy equipment along.

Background & context

Orde Wingate's Chindits marched across the border into Burma on foot in 1943 and 1944 and operated for weeks beyond any supply line. Everything came in by parachute or on mules, which ruled out heavy artillery: every weapon had to be something two men could carry. The PIAT, light mortars and man-portable flamethrowers fitted that profile exactly. Malaria, dysentery and the monsoon cost the columns more men in the process than the Japanese formations did.

On the tabletop

Every weapon in a Chindit column had to be portable by two men, because supplies in Burma came only by parachute or on mules. The PIAT gives you anti-tank fire against light Japanese tanks, and the flamethrower reaches around fifty yards and clears bunkers and fieldworks. The light mortar supports advancing squads with mobile fire in an arc. The three two-man teams come with three Bolt Action order dice.
