Product details

Background & context

Orde Wingate had an awkward theory: the Japanese soldier was not invincible in the jungle; you only had to meet him where he expected nobody. From 1943, columns of British, Indian and Gurkha soldiers marched across the Chindwin deep into Burma for that purpose, blew up railway lines and vanished again. They were supplied exclusively from the air, and everything was carried on their own backs and on mules. The price was high and many columns came back sick and emaciated, but the myth of the unbeatable enemy was gone.

On the tabletop

From 1943 Orde Wingate's columns operated behind Japanese lines in Burma, carrying everything on their own backs and on mules and receiving supplies from the air. This ten-figure metal section consists of an NCO, a Bren team and seven riflemen. In the jungle the Bren is the base of fire while the riflemen work their way through thickets and bamboo. In Bolt Action you use them to raid roads, railways and supply lines.
