Product details

Background & context

The Camionetta AS.42 was designed for the desert war in North Africa, where Italian long-range reconnaissance units operated across hundreds of kilometres of open ground. Built on the chassis of the AB 41 armoured car, it carried extra fuel tanks, water cans and sand channels mounted directly on the body. Its armament was put together according to the mission, so hardly two vehicles looked alike. That is exactly what gives the squadron so much variety on the gaming table.

On the tabletop

With these four AS.42 Camionette you can field an Italian desert squadron in Bolt Action, modelled on the Camionettisti of the X Reggimento Arditi. Each vehicle is armed differently: the 2 cm Breda works against infantry, light vehicles and aircraft, the Solothurn anti-tank rifle against lightly armoured targets, and the 47 mm anti-tank gun is your answer to enemy tanks. The fourth Camionetta without an extra weapon completes the squadron. Together they form a fast group that scouts far behind the front and strikes by surprise, following the example of the British special forces. The vehicles can also be used in Achtung Panzer!
