A British driver with his sleeves rolled up, tin hat pushed back and a cigarette on the go. This metal figure fits the driving seat of most British soft-skin vehicles and works just as well for Canadian and Commonwealth forces.

Product details

Background & context

The British Army of the Second World War was largely motorised, unlike many armies that still relied on horse-drawn transport. Thousands of drivers from the Royal Army Service Corps and from the units themselves kept supplies and troop movements going, from the Libyan desert to northern Germany. The shallow steel helmet the soldiers called the tin hat was as much part of the picture as sleeves rolled up in warm weather.

On the tabletop

Lorries and other soft-skin vehicles in your British Bolt Action army look empty without someone at the wheel. Put this figure in the driving seat, whether the force is British, Canadian or from elsewhere in the Commonwealth. His relaxed pose with cigarette and pushed back helmet suits supply runs behind the lines, in North Africa as much as in Italy or North West Europe.
