Product details

Background & context

The winter of 1944/45 in North-West Europe was the coldest for decades, and a tank is about the worst place to face it: steel draws the warmth out of everything, and the hatch has to stay open regardless. British crews therefore pulled lined overalls on over their uniforms and lived by the vehicle between actions. Maintenance, resupply and, again and again, the stove, because in British tank regiments tea was not a habit but part of the daily routine.

On the tabletop

There is snow on the ground, but the fighting goes on: these six British tankers wear warm oversuits against the cold. Three partial figures peer out of the hatches, one of them with the obligatory mug of tea, and three more stand on foot beside the vehicle. In Bolt Action they crew the tanks of a British winter force, for example in north-west Europe in 1944/45. Use the figures on foot as a bailed-out crew or as a scene next to the vehicle.
