    Background & context

    Major Robert Northover entwarf 1940 ein Rohr aus billigem Stahl auf einem Dreibein, das per Schwarzpulverladung die Brandgranate Nr. 76 verschoss, auf gut 140 Meter, wenn der Schütze Glück hatte. Gegen Panzerung richtete das Gerät praktisch nichts aus, gegen Lastwagen und abgesessene Infanterie durchaus etwas. Rund 19.000 Stück gingen an die Home Guard, und es blieb die letzte Schwarzpulverwaffe, die die britische Armee je ausgab.

    On the tabletop

    The Northover Projector is an improvised Home Guard weapon of 1940, standing on a tripod and using black powder to throw incendiary and fragmentation grenades. Against armour it achieves little, but it is more effective against lorries, light vehicles and infantry. Because of its short range, place it with its crew in cover at a barricade or street corner. In Bolt Action it belongs in British home defence forces.
