Hintergrund & Einordnung

The British Commandos were formed in response to early German successes in World War II and were specifically trained for raids, reconnaissance missions, and amphibious operations on enemy-occupied coastlines. As lightly equipped elite units, they relied on mobility rather than heavy gear - repurposed Vickers K aircraft machine guns provided effective suppressive fire. Snipers were an integral part of Commando units, initially employed informally, later firmly integrated into the unit structures. For the 1944 Normandy invasion, Commandos were equipped with portable flamethrowers for the first time to quickly clear fortified beach sections.

Einsatz im Spiel

The three weapon teams tactically supplement a Commando force without diluting the elite unit's lean character. The Vickers-K LMG team suppresses enemy units with sustained fire and covers the movement of friendly forces. The sniper duo is the ideal answer to enemy HQ models and exposed weapon teams. The flamethrower team takes on the role of building stormers and is particularly valuable in scenarios with fortified positions or urban combat. Thematically, all three teams fit perfectly with coastal assault and raid scenarios.
