    Product details

    Background & context

From 1942 No. 10 (Inter-Allied) Commando brought together volunteers from the occupied countries, with separate Troops for Frenchmen, Belgians, Dutchmen, Norwegians and Poles, plus the German-speaking X Troop. Many of them went ashore in Normandy on 6 June 1944, some on the very coast they had once fled from. Their armament owed a good deal to improvisation: the Vickers K originally came from aircraft gun positions and found its way to the Commandos by way of the desert reconnaissance units.

    On the tabletop

Commandos went into action as lightly armed raiders, and these three two-man teams make up for that. The Vickers K was originally an aircraft gun and pins the enemy down with its high rate of fire, while the second man carries extra ammunition. Snipers scouted ahead and, in landings, fired at defenders from the landing craft on the run-in. For Normandy in June 1944 the Commandos received portable flamethrowers, which you use in Bolt Action to clear fortified positions. Three order dice are included.
