Background & context

Die British Expeditionary Force verlegte ab September 1939 nach Frankreich und stand im Mai 1940 dem deutschen Vorstoß durch die Ardennen gegenüber. Ihre Bataillone waren gut ausgebildet und als einzige Armee Europas voll motorisiert, zahlenmäßig aber unterlegen und ohne durchschlagende Panzerabwehr. Der Rückzug endete an den Stränden von Dünkirchen: Über 300.000 Mann kamen heraus, fast das gesamte schwere Gerät blieb zurück.

On the tabletop

Twenty metal figures cover the infantry core of the British army in France in 1940. You get an officer with two riflemen, a ten-man section with a Bren team and three weapons teams: a light mortar, an anti-tank rifle and a medium machine gun. The section holds its position, the MMG adds firepower at range, the mortar fires in an arc over cover and the anti-tank rifle deals with vehicles. With it you play the Bolt Action battles up to the retreat to Dunkirk.
