Background & context

Under the Commonwealth banner men from Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India and Canada stood in the same line, and it showed. Slouch hat next to sun helmet next to steel helmet. In the desert a class apart joined them: the LRDG, SAS and SBS drove deep into the enemy rear, wore whatever was practical and did not give a hoot for regulations. That very lack of uniformity is what makes a Commonwealth army so appealing on the table.

On the tabletop

Slouch hats, sun helmets or LRDG and SAS heads let you build Australians, South Africans, New Zealanders or desert special forces from this box. In Bolt Action the 30 figures fight in North Africa against the Afrika Korps and the Italians, and later in Italy. Bren and Thompson give firepower at range and up close, the Boys anti-tank rifle gives you an answer to light tanks, and the 2-inch mortar fires over cover. Mixed with the 8th Army box, your force becomes even more varied.
