Product details

Background & context

On 6 June 1944 Lord Lovat's 1st Special Service Brigade went ashore on Sword Beach, and his piper Bill Millin played on the beach as it did so, even though bagpipes had long been banned in action. Brigadier Peter Young led No. 3 Commando and was one of the most experienced raid commanders the British had. Men like these shaped the Commandos more than any table of organisation.

On the tabletop

Lord Lovat, his piper Bill Millin and Brigadier Peter Young lead your British Commandos in Bolt Action. Lovat landed on Sword Beach with the 1st Special Service Brigade on 6 June 1944 while Millin played on the beach despite a ban, and Young commanded No. 3 Commando. As officers they give your platoon a face, and you can build Millin in either a kilt or trousers. They are the right leadership for scenarios around D-Day and the push to the bridges held by the paratroopers.
