Product details

Background & context

British officers in the Second World War had a reputation for leading their men from the front, and ran considerable risks in doing so. They were seldom alone in this: accompanying personnel took on tasks for which nobody else had time in action. Medics treated the wounded under fire, radio operators kept the link to the artillery and to higher staffs. In the winter months of north-west Europe that backing was often exactly what decided whether a platoon remained able to act.

On the tabletop

British officers led their men from the front, accompanied by specialists for particular tasks. This HQ for a winter force of British and Canadian troops consists of two officers, a medic and a radio operator. In Bolt Action every platoon needs an officer to pass on orders. The medic treats the wounded, and the radio operator serves as a forward observer or directs one of your indirect fire weapons.
