Background & context

A gun that a handful of men can shift by themselves and that will still tear open the hull of a German medium tank: that was the reason the Six Pounder became standard so quickly with the British infantry. The airborne forces received a special carriage of their own, which allowed the gun to be towed like a light piece, and took it with them to Arnhem in 1944. After 1945 the weapon stayed in service for another two decades, longer than most of the tanks it had been built to fight.

On the tabletop

The Six Pounder replaced the lighter Two Pounder in the middle of the war, making it the anti-tank gun for your British or Canadian army from 1942. It engages medium tanks and lighter vehicles advancing along roads and through gaps in hedges. Three metal figures crew the gun, and the accessories dress the position. Placed in cover and protected by your own infantry, it closes a sector to enemy vehicles.
