    Background & context

    Die Royal Artillery hatte ihr Feuerleitverfahren bis 1944 so weit verfeinert, dass ein einzelner Beobachter binnen Minuten das Feuer eines Regiments, einer Division oder sogar eines Korps anfordern konnte. Die Codewörter dafür - Mike, Uncle, Victor - standen für immer größere Feuerschläge. FOO-Trupps fuhren dafür in gepanzerten Carriern mit, bei Panzerbrigaden auch in eigenen Stuarts und später Shermans.

    On the tabletop

    A British FOO was attached to a company and was authorised to give fire orders directly to his own battery. From the middle of the war some observers could call on the whole regiment, a few even on divisional or corps artillery. These three foot figures bring the team to your British Bolt Action army, where it directs artillery fire onto enemy positions. For a faithful display, give it an armoured carrier, or a Stuart or Sherman when it supports armour.
