Background & context

The British infantry's 2-inch mortar weighed less than five kilograms and had a range of around 450 metres. An NCO carried and fired it, and the second man lugged the ammunition. Snipers worked with the SMLE No.4 complete with No.32 telescopic sight and, besides fifty rounds, also carried Mills grenades, smoke grenades, binoculars and a camouflage net. The Ack Pack, the British man-portable flamethrower, weighed just under 29 kilograms and managed ten bursts of two seconds each out to fifty yards.

On the tabletop

Light mortar, sniper and flamethrower present the enemy with three different problems. The 2-inch mortar was carried and fired by an NCO while his partner brought the ammunition, so you can move it quickly and support advancing paratroopers with fire in an arc. The sniper pair with an SMLE No.4 and telescopic sight strikes precisely at range. The Ack Pack flamethrower manages ten short bursts at around fifty yards and clears bunkers and buildings.
