    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    British airborne troops of World War II often operated in isolation behind enemy lines and were entirely dependent on their organic support weapons. The Vickers machine gun was a proven World War I heirloom that maintained its reputation for reliability and sustained fire capability until the end of World War II. The 3-inch mortar provided indirect fire support to infantry units at medium range without having to wait for superior artillery. Forward observers coordinated heavy artillery and air strikes - a capability that was crucial in airborne scenarios such as Arnhem or Normandy.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    This kit covers nearly the entire command apparatus of a support platoon and offers maximum tactical flexibility. The officers increase the responsiveness of adjacent squads, while the Vickers MG team establishes fire superiority along long lines of sight. The mortar section allows for indirect fire against concealed enemies - ideal against entrenched infantry. The medic increases the survivability of key units, and the forward observer provides access to heavy artillery or air support. Together, these models form the foundation of a complete British Airborne Heavy Weapons Platoon.
