Background & context

Der Morris C8 Quad zog seit 1939 die 25-Pfünder und 4,5-Zoll-Haubitzen der britischen Feldartillerie. Für die Hamilcar-Lastensegler der Luftlandetruppen war er schlicht zu hoch und zu schwer. Also entstand 1943 und 1944 eine abgespeckte Fassung: Dach und Aufbau weg, offene Pritsche hinten, offener Fahrerstand vorn. Gebraucht wurde sie vor allem für die 17-Pfünder-Panzerabwehrkanone, die weder Jeep noch Bren Carrier bewegen konnten.

On the tabletop

This cut-down Morris tractor brings the 17-pounder anti-tank gun of your British airborne forces into position in Bolt Action. Neither the jeep nor the Universal Carrier could move the heavy gun, so this open version was built in 1943 and 1944 to fit into Hamilcar gliders. On the table it tows the gun into place and then pulls back into cover. That gives your airborne force a heavy anti-tank weapon.
